This software supports effective teaching because it allows the development of skills and ICT capability within one package. It can be part of a multi-platform project, but is capable of being used as a free standing unit. Because the program is modular (both in terms of its components, graphics, sound etc. and In terms of the modular nature of the Logo language) it is possible to devise effective teaching strategies which deliver sufficient capacity to achieve at a wide range of ages and levels of skill. The students love using Microworlds. They can see the results of their efforts quickly and then develop their ideas in a variety of ways, the only restraints to their progress being their imagination. Students who normally struggle with ICT or don't particularly like the subject still seem to love Microworlds and through using it develop their general ICT skills even further.
